How to keep your Summer Glow!

As the main summer holiday season begins to wind down, we have found ourselves completely in denial about the fact our tans are going to fade. To counteract this, here are our tried and tested top tips for how to keep your summer glow going...



Moisturise

Post-holiday peel is any sun worshipper’s worst nightmare and the only way to beat it is to adopt a religious moisturising routine. Keep your skin hydrated morning and evening and it won’t get the chance to dry out. We are personally obsessed with the Jo Malone Velvet Rose and Oud Body Crème, the beautiful floral scent clings to the skin as well as making it soft, supple and radiant.

Exfoliate
It’s one of the hardest things to do when you are flaunting a fresh tan, but it’s so essential to exfoliate! Scrubbing away any excess skin cells helps avoid dryness and flakiness which in the long-term will help your tan go the distance. Don’t forget to exfoliate your face too, it will have had a tough time being exposed to sun, chlorine, salt, wind and sun cream over the last few months! Some gentle buffing will help give your skin radiance and provide a dewy finish. Melissa is a huge fan of Sisley Paris’s Gentle Facial Buffing Cream.

Bronze
We don’t know about you, but once we return from our holiday our face always suddenly decides to lose all its colour! There’s no worse look than a tanned body and white face, so be sure to invest in a good bronzer for those first few weeks post-vacation. Our bronzer of choice is Tom Ford’s bronzing powder which blends like a dream and leaves you looking appropriately sun kissed.

Hydrate
After hot temperatures and travelling drinking lots of water is essential! This will help skin to recover and will discourage any unwanted dryness. Experts recommend we drink two litres of water a day to give our bodies what we need. Here at Odabash HQ we love to make our water a little more interesting and try different ‘detox’ waters for added flavour and nutrients. Try a simple slice of lemon for a citrus burst, pack in the vitamins with strawberry and watermelon or help rid your body of toxins with cucumber and lime water. Also don’t forget herbal and green teas are packed full of antioxidants which can aid the recovery of sun damage on your skin.


Eat the rainbow

It may be such a simple thing, but it’s an important one! Make sure your diet contains plenty of fruit and vegetables post-holiday, as this will help to increase your vitamin, mineral and antioxidant consumption – all of which naturally help our skin to repair from sun damage.

Wear white
In terms of looking tanned this is probably the oldest trick in the book, but just remember there’s no better way to shoe off your holiday glow that by keeping to a pale wardrobe. And when in doubt… Fake it!
