Yesterday, on the banks of the river Thames inside the iconic Savoy hotel women from all over London flocked to attend a charity lunch hosted by the Future Dreams Breast Cancer Charity. A number of Team Odabash were invited along to enjoy the afternoon and witness Melissa get presented with an award for her work with the charity and we thought we’d share the experience with you…
This lunch was both a celebration and fundraising event that began with a Champagne and canapé reception in the River Room. As well as make-overs on offer from Estee Lauder and a busy photograph area on arrival, there were posters of Jacquie Beltrao modelling the upcoming SS17 Future Dreams post-mastectomy swimwear line.
This is the second swimwear line that we have produced alongside Future Dreams and whilst Melissa still played the role of designer, this collection has seen Mastectomy swimwear and underwear specialists Amoena come on board to help produce and distribute the line on wider scale.
Once everyone had arrived and had a chance to greet each other we were ushered down into a bouquet room which was appropriately lit with shades of pink and featured a beautiful layout of tables. Stunning floral centrepieces, goodie bags on each chair and free-flowing Rose meant that the guests were more than happy to take their seats.
Jacquie then took to the stage to welcome all the guests and introduced the engaging silent handbag auction which saw ladies bidding throughout the course of the meal on bags from designers such as Fendi, Stella McCartney, Issey Miyake and of course Melissa Odabash!
Guests were then treated to an exclusive fashion show which was put together by Matchesfashion.com, numerous autumn looks were on show and available for purchase. We spotted Melissa eyeing up a certain Valentino dress and won’t be surprised if she’s pictured wearing it on a red carpet somewhere soon!
Finally it was then time to tuck into the lunch on offer and then afterwards there was a very moving video and a number of speeches from professionals and family about the role of Future Dreams in the battle against Breast Cancer.
After these very sombre and heart-wrenching speeches there was finally reason to celebrate as Melissa was then introduced and called to the stage to collect the first Future Dreams Humanitarian Award. This was given to Melissa as recognition for her role and efforts in working alongside the charity to both help fund raise and ease the process of women who are going through and have been through this battle.
Melissa was so humbled to receive the award and gave a down-to-earth yet rousing speech which was the perfect note for the event to finish on.
On the way out there was also the chance for customers to purchase the limited edition hot pink make-up bag that we have produced to acknowledge Breast Cancer Awareness Month this October, but don't feel like you've missed out - if you'd like to get your hands on one they will be coming into stock both online and in our stores soon, so keep your eyes peeled!
100% of profits will be donated to Future Dreams.
