My gorgeous friend Louise Roe made a name for herself as a charmingly ambitious & uber fashion-savvy Elle TV presenter, becoming a regular on The Hills spin-off 'The City' working alongside fashion icon Olivia Palermo. Louise has become an indispensable fashion insider, sitting front row at the hottest New York shows, with her own fashion line & regular contributions to Elle, Glamour & Company (among others), presenting everything from The BBC's Clothes Show to The European MTV Music Awards & guest-judging on Britain's Next Top Model. Not to mention her own super-successful 'Plain Jane' show...yes, it's fair to say, Louise is one very busy lady!
A true sunshine girl, Louise now lives in Los Angeles with her fiancé Josh, flying backwards & forwards between her home in London - so who better to share her top tips for packing your holiday bag with us?
So Louise, tell me about how you prepare for your holiday?
When I do get time off to take a holiday, I love taking ages preparing & getting everything ready. I'll make sure I drink plenty of water & swear by body-brushing to soften my skin & I'll up my moisturising anté so I look my best on the beach. I'll have a spray tan as I love to be bronzed - who doesn't! Then I'll take ages picking out outfits - including lots of Melissa Odabash pieces, obviously - & lay it all out before making a final edit. I'd love to take everything but it's just not practical & I would never end up wearing it all, though I'd never edit out my high-heels, I love a good pair of wedges for the beach! I'll then get all of my documents ready & put them in my passport folder. I love Anya Hindmarch for these - gorgeous leather, perfect pastel colours & best of all, they can be monogrammed. Super-chic.
What is your 'Can't Live Without' outfit when you're away?
I love my Melissa Odabash 'Sanela' dress - you can't beat a good throw-on maxi-dress when on vacation & this one is perfect. The colour & the embellishment are just brilliant. I team it with chunky wedges, an arm full of bangles picked up on my travels & a simple straw beach bag. So easy to wear.
What are your ultimate holiday essentials?
Louise: Well, definitely my Sanela! A few more maxi dresses, a great pair of wedges that go with everything. I love simple peasant-y cotton tops. I pick them up at markets when I'm away, Greece particularly is great for them - but I also love the MO 'Alaia' which I team with denim shorts. I'll also have a good book packed, my iPod & a stack of fashion magazines, so I keep up to date with what's going on. Sun cream is my number one beauty must-have without a doubt, it's so important to take care of your skin in the sun, but lip balm & a YSL mascara come a close second!

What are your top packing tips?
An oldie but a goodie, girls...Don't fold, ROLL! (You fit heaps more in that way). I do also think that final edit is a good one - do you really need ten dresses for that four day break? No, I didn't think so! You'll be thanking me when you've room to spare for all those cool market finds & duty free beauties.
How many swimsuits or bikini's do you pack for a one week holiday?
Oh, definitely too many! At least one for every day...sometimes even two, just so I've got the option. Hmmm...what was I saying about that edit?!
What are your in-flight tips?
If you can sleep on the flight, great - do it! I take all of my make-up off, apply classic Elizabeth Arden's 8 hour cream & put that eye mask on. I like to keep a vitamin E face mist with me as, as we all know, the air-con makes flying so drying for your skin. Otherwise, make the most of being somewhere no one can reach you, switch off your phone, forget your emails & get cosy with the in-flight movie or a good book & order yourself a glass of red. I personally like to swot up on where I'm visiting with a guidebook, making note of all the exciting places you want to go whilst you are there.
Where is on your wishlist this summer?
Harbour Island in the Bahamas - my dear friend India Hicks lives out there & I still haven't been able to visit. I hear it's stunning, hopefully I'll make it out there before the end of the year!
Louise is a big fan of Melissa's!
