As a huge fan of art Melissa was thrilled over Frieze week in October when globally renowned artist Jeff Koons launched a new exhibition, just around the corner from our head office.
If you aren't as clued-up on your 21st century artists as Melissa, here's a quick rundown...
Jeff Koons is a pop-culture artist who is most well known for his work associated with balloon animal sculptures, most specifically a dog. Koons' Balloon Dog (Orange) sold at became the most expensive piece to be sold at auction by a living artist back in 2013, when it sold at Christie's in New York City for US$58.4 million. Jeff Koons has admitted there is no symbolism or meaning behind his work and he is known to hugely divide critics in the art industry.
In Melissa's and opinion his work is fabulous. It's fun, it's quirky and it's current. Koons work comes across with vibrant, bold colours, all translated through shiny objects such as the balls and sculptures available to view at the Almine Rech Grosvenor Hill Gallery in the heart of Mayfair.
Just last week, some of the Odabash Head Office Team popped around the corner after work to indulge in such an esteemed, art world spectacle that we are lucky enough to have just around the corner!
Head down to Mayfair and see this snazzy exhibition for yourself, it's very Instagram-friendly and is only around until January 21st!
