Coachella - kicking off the festival season in glamorous, mud-free style - is the place to be & be seen this weekend. With weekend one out of the way, we've a good idea of this years hot trends are - aside from the ubiquitous denim jean-shorts/bikini combo that is! Set in the ultra-chic & super-hot Palm Springs, the order of the days last weekend was easy, printed cotton sundresses & matching bralet & skirt sets, eclectic bohemian looks, with a smattering of 'collected on my travels' jewellery & a look those LA girls do so well, chic basic layers in luxe fabrics topped off with buttery-soft, well-worn leather jackets. Which look will you be sporting down at the front at your festival of choice?
Vintage kaftan's were the look du-jour for the bohemian babes at Coachella this weekend - throw on over anything, from simple slip dresses to denim shorts to your bikini (if you're lucky enough to be at a festival that's warm enough!). We love this look - try my Gwyneth snake print silk cover-up (very Bianca Jagger!) paired with my classic triangle Miami bikini, cut-offs & a simple camisole - not forgetting plenty of Melissa Odabash jewellery.
It should be the law that every girl has the perfect printed summer dress - especially this season - a bold, bright, sunshine-y piece has never been hotter. We love the floral bra-let & skirt combination, the sharp shift (as seen on fashionista Solange Knowles...style obviously runs in the Knowles family!) & the printed maxi-dress. We think our Kara hits the (fashion) nail on the head combining a super-cute bold print with studding & embroidery detailing - team with our St. Tropez swimsuit, a chic Jemima wide-brimmed hat & sky high wedges. And don't forget the red lipstick - you might be at a festival but that's no excuse not to look pulled together & super-stylish!
We love this 'urbanites hit the festival' look - the key is layer, layer, layer, something super-cool girls Kate Bosworth & Nicole Richie do oh-so well. Neutral colours work best, tone on tone is what gives this look its edge. Try our Grainia playsuit (still a hot piece for 2013) in grey with metallic finish, layered over my classic black Aruba swimsuit, keep a cream chiffon blouse handy to keep the sun off your shoulders & throw on a leather jacket when the night starts getting chilly. Don't forget your masculine sunglasses to finish off this look - we love Tom Ford (doesn't everyone!?) which are available in my London boutiques.
So which festival will you be heading to? We have to admit, us Odabash girls will be sticking to the ones with guaranteed sun - Sonar, Primavera, Benecassim (any excuse to get our bikini's on)! Tweet us your festival looks @melissaodabash or head to the Melissa Odabash Facebook & post them there. We'll keep our fingers crossed for sun for you!
